In my role as Manager of the Learning Support Services, I have responsibility for the University’s Study Skills Service which operates across all five campuses.
My office is based at Treforest campus but I work across all five campuses, organising my week to cater for the demands of the service and my team.
A career in Education and Lifelong Learning since 1978 has involved working across Secondary, Adult/ Community learning, Further and Higher Education sectors. This has enabled a breadth and depth of experience of teaching and supporting learners to be developed which underpins my current post as Learning Support Service Manager. I have held the cuurent post since the merger into USW, which has superceded my previous post of EDIC manager ( since September 2006).
Responsible for strategic and operational management of the Study Skills Support Service, which includes managment of the Centres at reforest, Glyntaff, Atrium, Caerleon and City campuses and a team of academic /study skills tutors. This includes organising and supporting the team in the provision of study skills tutorials, workshop programmes and the on-line study skill resources for students across the university but with an emphasis on those students who are new to University study/ through a widening access agenda. Also responsible for the development of the service and the personal development of the team members.
