About

Eleri John is currently a Senior Lecturer in Early Years and Education. She works across campuses teaching on the BA (Hons) Early Years Education and Practice, BA (Hons) Working with Children and Families (Newport City Campus) and BSc Childhood Development (Treforest Campus). She teaches on various modules across degree schemes including, ‘Equality and Diversity in Practice’, ‘Inclusive Practice in the Early Years’, ‘Professional Learning and Practice’ and ‘Developing the Personal and Professional Self’. In addition she supervises a number of dissertation students at both Treforest and City campus. She is currently course leader for BA (Hons) Working with Children and Families and Year 3 tutor for BA (Hons) Early Years Education and Practice.

Experience

Eleri was a primary school teacher for 5 years, working in both England and Wales as well as across the age ranges. Following the completion of her Masters in Education, Eleri moved into higher education as a lecturer in education and was appointed senior lecturer in August, 2018.

Research

Research interests include the self-concept and altruism of young children in early years settings and the impact of classroom organisation on young children’s wellbeing.
