Alison has worked and volunteered in education and with young people for many years. She began her career in outdoor education and has taught Geography in the UK and overseas. While working overseas Alison achieved her Master’s degree in Environmental Education. She completed an audit of the curriculum for Education for Sustainable Development and Global Citizenship content at the University of South Wales, following this Alison was awarded funding to complete her doctorate. She has contributed to a range of Education courses at the University of South Wales as well as undertaking outreach work with primary and secondary schools, and research projects within the university, and in collaboration with other higher education institutions.

Alison’s PhD investigated the impact of strategies and policies on ESDGC in Welsh universities, and included the creation of ‘A Sustainability Maturity Model for Higher Education’.
