I have over twenty years of experience working in education and not one year of teaching is ever the same. As educators we are always learning and seeking out more inspirational ideas to pass on the knowledge as well as the ‘passion’ of teaching and learning.
I have a keen interest in the outdoors and when time affords can be found engrossed in the wonders of nature and attending my allotment .
I have been fortunate to teach mainly in secondary education, but have also supported primary teachers with delivery in primary education, particularly through PE .
Throughout my career, I have gained insight into a range of different demands and strategies faced by schools and settings in my role as a CPD manager for a charity that provided support to teachers across the UK – by delivering ‘essential key skills’ through the medium of PE and providing learners with an opportunity to gain extra qualifications.
Teaching in Further Education opened up opportunities to teach in Higher Education and I have been at the University for nearly five years. There are many challenges to teaching, but the rewards are immeasurable when you are able to see students progress and achieve more than they thought they were capable of.
