Previous to this post I was employed as Design and Technology with ICT Consultant (E Learning Consultant) for Nottingham Education Authority. I was in this post for over two years. My key role was to raise the standards of D&T/ICT capability in teachers, assistants and pupils within the Nottingham City schools. The role contributed to raising the quality of teaching, achievement of pupils and quality of management through the effective use of ICT within Design and Technology.
My work with Nottingham LEA involved setting targets for departments, pupil performance and attendance. A special aspect was the implementation of the KS3 strategy and assessment for learning. I was responsible for setting up projects to promote inclusion through initiatives such as ASDAN, Future Pathways and Skills Force Project. I work closely with the children’s service providing curriculum programmes for vulnerable and disaffected pupils.
At the LEA I was also a part of a group which linked individual departments in a mentoring/buddy style system. This worked on a bespoke system where one beacon school guided other schools with exemplary practice in terms of providing support to schools where they have short comings in a particular area. This was a LEA wide initiative to promote good practice in teaching and learning.
I was privileged to be involved in interview panels to appoint senior posts within the LEA and schools. I have been involved in short-listing potential candidates for specialised posts such as new Deputy Heads/Headteachers for schools in special measures.
