Bernard has been a registered Social Worker since 1989. He has practiced in both the Statutory and Voluntary sectors, with a primary focus on Children and Young People. Bernard spent some years as a Training Officer and Manager in a large Local Authority Social Services department in South Wales specialising in Child Protection and the development of student Social Workers and the provision of practice learning. In 2008 Bernard joined the University as the Director of a new partnership and integrated practice centre with a primary function on developing practice based links with the University in the areas of social work, youth work and counselling.
