About

Dr Akram Hammoudeh is the Director of the University of South Wales Branch-Dubai . The University of South Wales Dubai will provide opportunities for students to study on a range of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. Initially, these will include Aircraft Maintenance Engineering with Embedded EASA-66 training and Aeronautical Engineering. The first phase of the campus will open in late autumn 2017 in Dubai South Business Park and the first student intake will commence their studies in September 18

1991-1993 Department of Electronics and Information Technology-Polytechnic of Wales
Senior Postdoctoral Research Fellow

Managed and conducted a research project entitled “investigation of radiowave propagation in woods and forests at microwave frequencies”. The research was aimed at the provision of data and prediction models for vegetation attenuation and scatter, and was sponsored by the Radiocommunications Agency (RA) of the DTI and Rutherford Appleton Laboratory (RAL). It was also in collaboration with British Telecom Research Laboratories (BTRL). Results obtained from the project form a very important part to the UK contributions to the International Telecommunication Union on Radio (ITU-R) system planning procedures in Europe.

Research

Research interests lie in the area of mobile radio systems and technologies at millimetre waves.
Successfully supervised 4 PhD and 3 MPhil research students.
Secured substantial funding from a number of sources including the Defence and Evaluation Research Agency and British Council to facilitate research collaboration with the University of Vigo in Spain.
Secured a KEF grant for the value of £49,000 to set up a state of the art Lighting Design Centre, and a KTP for £99,044.
Published over 45 papers in journals, transactions and conferences
