I studied part time between 1986 – 2008 on a variety of courses, which included attending:
• The University of Glamorgan between 1998 – 2003 attaining a BA Business Administration First Class Honors degree.
• Followed in 2003 – 2005 with a PGCE in Education franchised from UWN
• In addition, an MA in Special Educational Needs 2005 – 2008 at UWN.
Since 2008, I have continued to update my knowledge and qualifications, which include Mental Health First Aid Training, ASIST training, negotiating skills, ILM level 5 Leadership & Management Skills and an NAS Introduction to autism & the SPELL framework for HE.
Having joined the University in January 1992 as a part time, term time only library assistant. I then moved into Student Services as a Disability Adviser in 2001. I later became the Senior Disability Adviser and finally Manager of the Service in 2013. I am responsible for 25 core staff members alongside 55+ ‘0’ hour staff, liaising with faculties and departments regarding disability legislation and student support. I also liaise externally with government representatives for legislative/other purposes.
