I provide careers support for students studying within the Faculty of Computing, Engineering and Science (CES) at USW. I love my job as it gives me the opportunity to meet some amazing people from all over the world. It’s also satisfying when I can help students and graduates find or progress into a job or career that is a good fit with their aspirations, values and skills. An essential aspect of my job is to develop strong links with employers, keep up to date with recruitment/selection processes and help employers connect with USW students and graduates.
Central to my role is to assist students and graduates with their job search and support them with the application and recruitment process. This includes finding and successfully applying for work experience opportunities, graduate and entry level jobs. My goal is to give students the practical skills and confidence to connect up with employers and organisations particularly within their field of interest. I have a particular interest in the use of social media platforms such as LinkedIn which I feel is an essential networking, career planning and job search tool
In addition to one to one support I design and deliver workshops within the curriculum, and organise career related events. I also help students identify and apply for postgraduate study opportunities which are aligned to their career interests. I pride myself on being a friendly and approachable professional who is passionate about what I do and strives to deliver a quality service to my clients whether they are students, graduates, employers or academics.
