About

Andy was born in Cardiff, South Wales. He trained and competed for the City of Cardiff Swimming Club from the age of 11. During his swimming career, Andy achieved a Welsh 1500m title and represented Wales as a youth international. Whilst working for BT he competed for the Civil Service swimming team in representative matches against the armed forces and police. He also held many BT national swim titles. He studied for his first degree at the age of 30 and achieved first Class BA (Hons) in Human Movement Studies at UWIC. In 1999, he completed a PGCE in Secondary Physical Education and followed this with a Masters degree in Sport and Exercise Science at UWIC. His main areas of study were Exercise Physiology and the Child in Sport. He is now programme leader for the BSc (Hons) Sports Coaching where his main areas of lecturing are in Sports Physiology and Sports Coachin
