Phil Young known as Phil Young
BSc (Hons) Architectural Design & Technology
I have worked in the construction industry since 1999, spending 9 years working for an Architectural Consultancy based in Cardiff, before joining the Centre for Engineering Research and Environmental Applications (CEREA) at the University of Glamorgan. From 2010 I began contributing to the delivery of taught modules and I became a full-time lecturer at the University of South Wales in 2014.
My professional experience includes working with clients to develop design proposals that meet their requirements in terms of building design, sustainability and cost effectiveness, project management and site supervision of works in progress, value engineering and design rationalisation, compliance with statutory requirements, working closely with other construction professionals as part of a wider design team on multiple projects over many years.
I have also worked with academic colleagues from USW and other Welsh Universities on the development of a Low Impact Materials Network in Wales.
I am a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
