Gemma has worked within the Conference Services department since 1998 in a role that has evolved from receptionist to Conference Co-ordinator, through to Conference Services Manager where she currently oversees the team and portfolio of venues across Pontypridd, Cardiff & Newport campuses . During her time at the University Gemma has arranged a wide variety of events for a range of clientele.
In the summer of 2005 Gemma arranged the largest residential event on campus, involving 850 delegates, for the United Reformed Church conference. More recently in 2013 the TUCO (The Universities Caterers Organisation) Conference held at Treforest offered a one-stop-shop event involving over 300 residential guests, a large exhibition, plenary, on site catering including a VIP Gala Dinner and an informal evening at Cardiff Castle.
Gemma was also the University lead with the involvement in the NATO Wales Summit where the University accommodated over 1600 Police Officers across its campuses during the 2 week operation in the lead up to and during the Summit. Gemma led both the Operational Logistics Team and Business Continuity Committee within the University.
