Martin graduated the University of Glamorgan in 2013 as a registered nurse. He was awarded the Trevor Farmer Prize for outstanding clinical practice for his work as a student. His first role as a registered nurse took him to the emergency unit at Bronglais District General. Before joining the University of South Wales Martin worked as a senior staff nurse in the emergency department at The University Hospital of Wales Cardiff.
