Tom Cole is the university Rugby Hub Officer, a role part funded by the WRU. His remit is to help grow and develop rugby both at the university and in the community. This includes running parts of the rugby programme, ensuring there are plenty of playing opportunities for the students, delivering as part of the rugby degree on level 1 and 2 coaching modules, and making sure students get relevant work based placements at schools, clubs and regions. Tom also oversees all of the rugby team programmes from the 2nd team down, including the fresher’s team and the women’s team.
Tom is a product of the university, having studied his Masters in Performance Coaching, during which he started his rugby career as Play Development Officer with the Ospreys in 2010. He spent 4 years with the Ospreys before moving onto fulfil the same role for the WRU. As a coach Tom is experienced in the development and performance pathways having coached the Ospreys Regional Age Grade sides at U16, U18 & U20 levels, Dragons Academy U18’s, Wales Women during the prestigious 2015 six nations championship which included a victory over the then World Champions England and is currently coaching in the Welsh Premiership with Bedwas RFC.
