Lucy John known as Lucy
BSc (Hons) Biomedical Sciences
I have worked within the Careers & Employability team at USW since 2014. I am a work placement partner working with students studying Criminology and Sociology. I work with employers and academics to secure placements for our students. I provide students with advice on finding a placement, support them during the application process, and act as point of contact for both employers and students during the placement. I can also guide an employer through the process of recruiting students, promote their vacancies, and arrange visits to meet students on campus.
I have been at USW since 2012. I worked as a Co-ordinator for the Work Based Learning Programme, a pan-Wales European funded project. The programme allowed eligible participants to access a range of short courses in various study fields including Leadership & Management, Digital Economy, Creative Industries, Language and Translation, Engineering, Supply Chain and Metallurgy. My role was to facitilte and support project managers to deliver their courses in compliance with EU regulations (including State Aid). I also monitored budgets and output targets to ensure they remained within profile. Previous to my Co-ordinator role, I worked on two European projects – Elevate Cymru and Business Pathways.
