About

Professor Miqdad Al-Nuaimi, received the BSc (Hons) degree in Electronic and Electrical Engineering from University of Birmingham (UK) in 1967. In 1972, he was awarded a PhD in Electronic and Communication Engineering by the University of Loughborough (UK) for his research work in RADAR detection theory. For over 30 years, Prof. Al-Nuaimi has worked in the Communications Industry and Higher Education, specializing in Radiocommunication Systems and Radiowave Propagation. He has played active roles in European and International radio research forums, where he has chaired Working Groups in European COST Actions 210 and 235. Until August 2009, Professor Al-Nuaimi has led the Radiowave Propagation and System Design Research Group at the University of Glamorgan. The Group actively pursues research projects in radiowave propagation measurements and modelling, obstructed radio paths & interference, broadband fixed wireless communications, mobile wireless systems and antennas. Specializing in measurements in the 1–65 GHz frequency range, members of the RP&SD Group contribute analytical studies, propagation models and measured data to radio system planning and design. Prof. Al-Nuaimi was elected a Fellow of the Institution of Electrical Engineers (IEE),now referred to as the IET. He has contributed actively to the IEE and its Professional Groups and was also a member of UK Study Group 3 of the ITU-R. Professor Al-Nuaimi has published widely on the above Radio Communications and System Design topics, authoring more than 120 papers in journals and international conferences.
